Victoria (Tori) Anderson has spent her entire life invisible. She plays the good girl well doing whatever it takes to pacify those around her, including her scumbag boyfriend who doesn't necessarily deserve her loyalty. When tragedy strikes bringing her boyfriend's extended family into town Tori is offered a way to escape in a dangerous package. Multiple tattoos and piercings should warn Tori to stay away but something about Sterling Bentley draws her in into his life, into his bed, into his soul, his heart and his pain. What do you do when you find the love of your life and they are the opposite of what you thought you wanted?

Falling for a Bentley Adriana Law Books

I have to admit I believe this is the first book that took a deep inside view of a drug user and his recovery, including detox. And it was not a pretty picture. The closest I've ever experienced anything like it myself is the few times I've been pregnant trying to stop my habit of caffeine, or the multiple times I've stopped drinking alcohol. Admittedly those detox's were nothing compared to what a street drug users goes through I according to the novel.
I admit that I would have given up on Sterling during his detox, so I had no problem when "Phoenix" (as you'll come to know Victoria by) walks out on him when Sterling uses again 1 time a month into being clean. I believe her finally walking away from him that night and ignoring him for a full month after saved Sterling in every way possible.
Sterling did start using because even as he admits he felt like somebody while he had the high. He didn't feel like a piece of nothing that was hopeless, which it what his own father repeatedly beat into him that he was.
I truly enjoyed how the other describes in Sterling's words that when he finally decided to get clean and stay clean it was a day by day process he had to tell himself today will be better than yesterday. He used the old cliche of "one day at a time".
I don't think anyone could have had their love tested like Phoenix did and not want to give up, but in the end she decided to let him back into her life, to prove that today will be better than yesterday.
I'd highly recommend this book, especially if you have no idea what a drug user has to go through to get clean. It will open your eyes, especially to forgiveness for those around you that seem to fail at staying clean. Awesome eye opening book.

Falling for a Bentley Adriana Law Books Reviews

I received this as a freebie thru the bookbub.com email. I'm glad I didn't pay for it. Overall the story was good. I liked that it was a longer story than most of the ones I've read lately, it gave it ample time for the characters to develop.

I didn't care for all the POV's....especially when your first introduced to Sterling and Sawyer (I was totally confused, had to re-read the first few pages of that chapter several times).

Another annoying thing an overuse of the author trying to get her point across I.e.... I'm.trying.to.tell.you.this.gets.old. etc. I just think that there are more crafty ways to accomplish the feelings that your trying to convey.

MAIN CHARACTERS

Colton pathetic boyfriend of Victoria, he is controlling, inconsiderate, and somewhat of a big jerk. It is clear thru several parts of this story that he thinks of women as objects, or things that can be controlled. He makes some big threats, but then just falls off the planet it seems. No closure to him at all.

Victoria the poor girl trapped in a world where she tries to make everyone happy, all the while sacrificing her happiness. While helping Colton thru a crisis she meets a man who turns her whole world around...and makes her grow as a person as well.

Sterling Coltons cousin, brother of Sawyer, and the whipping post for his abusive father, who is the ultimate jerk. Sterling has always saved his younger brother from their fathers wrath, but we soon find out that his whole life has left him broken, and hooked on some bad stuff. What he doesn't plan on doing is escaping not only with himself, but with Victoria "Phoenix" in tow.

SUPPORTING CHARACTERS

Olivia mom, the snarky doctor that is clearly way better than anyone else. Didn't care for her at all. Only towards the end of the book does her heart unthaw a bit.

Charlotte former addict, now mentor. She was a little religious, but, maybe that is something that's common with recovering addicts....I personally haven't spent much time around one.

Sawyer sterling's younger brother, and possible love interest of Starr. He doesn't have many parts in this book, so I'm left with not much of an opinion of him.

Starr another former addict, sterling's friend and ex drug partner/lover...not sure what you would call that. Again, not many parts with her, just a couple weird chapters.

As I said before, story was good, however, there are quite a few areas that have horrible grammatical errors, and wrong words that make some sentences really hard to read. It took several passes rereading what I hoped was what the author originally intended.
I really struggled to look past all the grammar and spelling mistakes in this book. The formatting was off in parts as well, especially during conversations where people have a long monolog.

Anyways, this book follows Victoria and Sterling as they find themselves and their relationship. They are fighting for the reality they both know that they deserve better but they are afraid to go after it until they meet each other. When they meet Sterling is a drug addict who doesn't want to live anymore and Victoria is struggling with the relationships with both her mother and boyfriend Colton (Sterling's cousin). After they spend some time together they finally see what they want and go after it.

Now while this book has a happy ending I still feel like I'm missing something. I would love to see how their stories continue. I would also like to see some of the other characters stories be told a bit more as well. Over all it was a great story with a lot of profound lessons in it. This was the first book I read by Adriana Law but I definitely think I would consider reading more by her, especially if it is about the Bentley's.
